In loving memory of my wonderful student, Claire, who taught me the importance of horse therapy in making a difference in the lives of those living with disabilities, we continue to offer our services to support riders living with exceptionalities. Salvador continues to work with special needs riders weekly, and it is Claire Gortnar, our first horse therapy rider, who is to thank for inspiring us to continue this important work in our community!

Riding Free, Forever in our Hearts

Dream Valley runs a successful riding program that hosts 60+ riders per week. With a foundation in flatwork, we build riders who understand proper positioning as well as techniques to help better the horse they are riding. Students can also explore jumping and/or dressage as they progress in their riding.

Our riders have the option to compete in various different schooling series in the area if they are apart of our riding school. This include fun shows hosted in house or at local farms, our Northern Equestrian Schooling Series (a great intro to showing environment) or the Carrot and Stick Bronze Schooling series in Barrie, ON. Whether you are looking for a laid back, fun environment for learning, or a more competitive environment, there are plenty of options for you at DVR. Showing is NOT mandatory in our program and we welcome riders who prefer to work on personal development rather than competing in shows- we are here to support whatever your passion may be!

Our riding school lessons occur in the weekday evenings after 4pm as well as on Sundays. We also welcome adult riders (beginner to advanced) to ride during the day time in semi-private or private lessons. Private spaces are available outside of the riding school lesson blocks as well. Riding lessons are 45 minutes long, with 45 additional minutes added for tack up and untack. This makes a total of 1hr and 1/2 at the farm. Students learn the importance of horse care, grooming, and barn cleanup along with their time in the saddle, as we are brining up the next generation of horse owners, and we want them to be prepared for all the work that goes along with owning and caring for a horse!

We do not offer casual lessons. Riders must commit to

a weekly lesson space to hold a spot in the program.

Spaces in our riding program are limited, as all our school horses are capped at one lesson a day, 5 days a week. For this reason, we have a set number of lesson spaces available. DVR currently has a waitlist for new students. Waitlist times can vary from a couple weeks to a year depending on when spaces become available. Reach out to inquire about being place on the waitlist. We recommend waiting until children are 6 years of age to begin lessons, though some exceptions can occur.
